Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management

Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management

Florida Gulf Coast University

Fort Myers, Florida

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) seeks an energetic and forward-thinking professional to serve as the new Associate Vice President (AVP) for Enrollment Management. FGCU is a comprehensive public university offering undergraduate and graduate programs to 15,000 students. One of 12 universities within the State University System of Florida, FGCU is Carnegie-designated as a master’s level university. Founded in 1991 to serve the needs of the Southwest Florida community, FGCU has seen enormous growth in academic programs, research activity, campus life, donor support, and student outcomes. Through its strategic planning process, five broad themes or pillars have emerged as priorities – student success, academic excellence, entrepreneurship, health sciences, and community engagement.

The new Division of Student Success & Enrollment Management is the result of the structural and organizational realignment of a number of offices and functions to achieve the goal of student success. Headed by a Vice President for Student Success & Enrollment Management, the Division is realigned into three primary units – Academic Engagement, Student Engagement, and Enrollment Management – each headed by an Associate Vice President. Together, these divisions will form a cohesive division with an integrated plan for student success.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Success & Enrollment Management, the AVP for Enrollment Management is responsible for providing leadership and administrative oversight of all enrollment management services that promote and advance the University’s mission and strategic plan. The AVP will be expected to develop an overarching strategy to shape enrollment management, to coordinate the development of a strategic enrollment management plan, and to promote student retention, persistence, and success, in collaboration with Deans, Department Chairs, and other divisional colleagues. The AVP works collaboratively with other members of the Vice President’s leadership team and with other colleagues within the campus community to support and continue to refine a student-centered educational experience that is seamless and supports all students in achieving their goals. The AVP’s portfolio includes Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid & Scholarships, and Records & Registration. This is a new position that in collaboration with other university leaders will influence the size, shape, and character of the student body at FGCU.

The University seeks an innovative and strategic enrollment management professional with a clear vision of the relationship among all elements of enrollment management in creating a fully integrated student experience from recruitment through graduation and the ability to ensure that all the elements work together. The AVP will provide a broad perspective, with the ability to think strategically, balance policy and practice, and facilitate and cultivate collaboration across campus groups and departments. The AVP should possess an advanced degree from an accredited institution (doctoral degree preferred); at least six years of higher-level enrollment management leadership experience at the director level at an institution of comparable size and complexity, with an outstanding record of enrollment management leadership in admissions, financial aid, student retention programs, transfer admissions, and/or marketing (experience in two or more areas preferred); demonstrated ability to address the needs and communicate effectively with first-time in college, first-generation, underrepresented student populations, transfer students, and international students; a long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion; experience with supervision of a large staff; experience in the use of technology specific to enrollment management, including the usage of CRM’s; understanding of statistical and predictive analysis and its use in an enrollment management setting; knowledge of the interfaces between academic and student service programs; and experience developing strategies and programs for advancing students toward their academic and professional goals.

Screening will begin in January and continue until an appointment is made. Nominations, inquiries, and applications (including a cover letter, CV, and the names of five references) should be directed electronically to FGCU_AVPEM@divsearch.com.
