Summary of Position:
he Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems (ANFS) within the University of New Hampshire's College of Life Sciences and Agriculture (COLSA) invites applications from candidates with demonstrated research and teaching expertise in the interrelated human nutrition and agroecological aspects of our food system. Specifically, we seek a colleague with demonstrated teaching proficiency and research interest in the impacts of food production, safety, access, consumption, and/or policy on human health outcomes. The candidate will bring methodological expertise in the design, implementation, and assessment of food-related health behaviors that is grounded in the socio-ecological model. Experience in behavioral analysis and environmental assessment is a plus. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses in food science/safety, behavioral nutrition, life cycle nutrition, and/or courses specific to the candidate's interests.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant new interdisciplinary department and is expected to develop a productive, internationally-recognized, and externally-funded research program that works collaboratively across disciplines. They are also expected to provide excellent training for our graduate students and to develop and teach innovative courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The anticipated start date is August 19th, 2019.

Institution Information:
The ANFS Department currently serves 460 undergraduate majors through its Animal Science, Nutrition, Equine Studies, and Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems programs, as well as 25 graduate students and dietetic interns through a variety of departmental and college-wide programs. Current faculty research areas include animal and plant production, plant breeding and applied genomics, plant pathology, dairy cattle nutrition, and human nutrition (http://colsa.unh.edu/anfs). ANFS is one of five academic units within COLSA, which also includes the state’s Agriculture Experiment Station. The college has experienced significant growth in interdisciplinary life sciences fields over the past five years, including recruitment of new faculty and increased undergraduate and graduate enrollments. Relevant college facilities include the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies, the Woodman and Kingman Agricultural Research Farms, the Fairchild Dairy Teaching and Research Center, the Organic Dairy Research Farm, the Macfarlane Greenhouses, the Lou & Lutza Smith Equine Center, and the Nutrition Assessment and Simulation Laboratory.
