US Naval War College seeks Assistant/Associate Professor of College of Maritime Operational Warfare

College of Maritime Operational Warfare: The position is located in the College of Maritime Operational Warfare (CMOW). CMOW aims to improve the cpability of the Navy commanders to lead maritime, joint, and multinational forces as well as improve the capability of Navy staff members to plan, execute, and assess and to function cohesively as a maritime operations center. CMOW Faculty and staff also conduct strategic planning and policy development for leadership and ethics education and character development.

Duties and Responsibilites: This position provides operational level of warfare academics through the Maritime Staff Operators Course, the Combined/Joint Force Maritime Component Commanders Course, the Executive Level of Operational Level of War Course, the Maritime Operational Planners Course and direct support to the Fleet through tailored assist visits conducted by the Assist and Assess Team. The incumbent works with teams of faculty, senior military officers and government civilians in these efforts and others in support of Operational Level of Warfare programs and academics. This position requires extensive travel to fleet locations in and outside of the continental United States. Additionally, there will be a requirement to reside, at times, on board U.S. navy ships that are either in port or underway at sea. Candidates must be prepared to teach or co-teach at the Master's Degree level.

Qualifications: Essential qualifications include an advanced degree in national security affairs or a related field; proven expertise in joint operational level warfare with specific emphasis on US Navy roles and missions. Desirable qualifications include joint professional military education, recent experience working closely with the Department of the Navy or Department of Defense in planning maritime operations; and experience as an academic team lead. Extensive knowledge and experience in information operations, operational law, logistics, undersea warfare, intelligence, maritime operations, cyber and/or ballistic missile defense operations is desired. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and be capable of obtaining a Department of Defense TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance. The selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug screening test and to random drug testing thereafter.

Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and credentials in accordance with Department of the Navy Faculty Schedule.
