Faculty Position in Intelligent Physical Systems -- the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering -- Tennessee Tech University

 

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Tennessee Tech University (TTU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor/Associate level in the areas related to Intelligent Physical Systems.  Women and members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Qualifications Required:

 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in electrical engineering or computer engineering; an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field by the start date of employment; ability for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels; interested in teaching courses in at least two of the following domains: signals, controls, and telecommunication; potential to develop and conduct externally-funded, high-quality research programs in the areas related to intelligent physical systems; engagement in scholarly activities as demonstrated by peer-reviewed journal publications; and effective communication and interpersonal skills. 

 

Qualifications Preferred:

 

A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering from an ABET accredited program; some relevant teaching experience; industrial experience; experience in writing grant applications to funding agencies; familiarity with the development of distance education programs; experience in teaching online courses; and mentoring of undergraduate capstone design students. 

The ECE Department, with about 400 undergraduate and 60 graduate students and 14 faculty members, provides an exciting environment for junior faculty members to grow and excel in this position. The department has expertise and ongoing research in controls, communications, computer engineering areas, electromagnetics, physical electronics, and power/energy systems. Two State-sponsored Centers of Excellence in Energy Systems and Manufacturing within the College of Engineering support and promote the research of faculty and graduate students.
