The University of Houston (UH) invites nominations and applications for individuals interested in an exciting leadership opportunity as Dean of the C.T. Bauer College of Business, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. Founded in 1927, the UH is the leading public research university in Houston and the second most ethnically diverse research university in the nation. Each year, the university educates more than 40,000 students in more than 300 undergraduate and graduate academic programs. UH awards more than 8,000 degrees annually and has more than 230,000 alumni. Students come to UH from more than 137 nations. Classified as a Tier One institution by virtue of its Very High Research ranking by the Carnegie Foundation, UH is also one of only 300 institutions nationwide to receive the Foundation’s highest designation as a community-engaged university. The University of Houston has been recognized both as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian-American serving institution by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education. UH is one of only three Tier One HSIs in the nation and the sole Tier One HSI in Texas.

Bauer College faculty are world class scholars and thought leaders, whose research fuels industry innovation and makes business across sectors more efficient. In each academic department, Bauer faculty are recognized among their peers for both fundamental and applied research, with an impressive record of publications in Tier One scholarly journals, conference presentations and awards, and editorial positions and board appointments.

Bauer College programs and curriculum are driven by faculty knowledge creation as well as industry need. Specialty programs include the nationally recognized Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship and Program for Excellence in Selling as well as a range of leadership training, including the Ted Bauer Leadership Certificate Program. At the graduate level, the college offers a Full-Time MBA, Professional MBA and Executive MBA, as well as master of science programs in finance, accountancy, global energy management, marketing, supply chain management and management information systems. MBA and MS Finance students can also earn elective certificates in the areas of energy, finance, marketing, supply chain management, entrepreneurship, leadership and other specialty areas.

The dean is responsible for the overall administration of the C.T. Bauer College of Business. This includes providing leadership for planning, managing, and evaluating personnel, programs and budgets. The dean is also responsible for building and maintaining strong ties to the city, state, and global business communities; fundraising and resource development; and executing strategies to recruit and retain faculty, staff, and students.

The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree in one of the disciplines represented within Bauer College, with five or more years of administrative experience in higher education with positions that carry progressively more responsibility. However, individuals with substantial business and organizational accomplishment are also encouraged to apply. Furthermore, an ideal candidate should have a high commitment to diversity, demonstrated sound judgment, effective problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and experience in presentations for both groups and one-on-one. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, flexibility to adjust priorities quickly, and significant fundraising experience are preferred.
