Brenau University invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of President. As an inspiring and forward-thinking leader, the President is responsible for providing strategic and entrepreneurial leadership to ensure continuation of the University’s exemplary success in all academic and operational areas. Founded in 1878, Brenau University, with an 11:1 student-faculty ratio, boasts an annual enrollment of over 3,500 students from 40 states and 23 countries in graduate and undergraduate programs on five campuses and extensive online degrees and programs from pedagogically expert, well-trained professors. U.S. News & World Report, Best Colleges, and The Princeton Review consistently rank Brenau University as one of the top higher education values in the Southeast.

 

The University is a comprehensive, liberal arts-based institution offering over 50 degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level. The main campus located in Gainesville, Georgia, includes the historic Brenau Women’s College. The Brenau University Undergraduate School and the Sidney O. Smith Jr. Graduate School provide a wide array of co-educational degree programs, including robust and varied health science programs, at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels. Brenau operates coeducational Georgia campuses in Gainesville, Augusta, Norcross and Fairburn, as well as a campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

 

The University has vibrant international partnerships facilitating enrollment of international students on the Brenau campus and domestic students traveling and studying at a host of international locations. Especially noteworthy is Brenau’s more than 5-year continuing partnership with Anhui Normal University in Wuhu, China.  There are 70 Chinese students currently enrolled at Brenau and over 100 in preparation at the Chinese partner University.  

 

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University.  The ideal candidate must have the credentials, character traits and experience appropriate for a 21st-century university president: an appropriate terminal degree or equivalent; a record of proven leadership and vision in a senior administrative role; significant experience in financial management of a complex operation; demonstrated success in a fundraising role; experience in strategic planning; and an understanding of the technological needs/emerging trends in higher education. The President will be an advocate for liberal arts education, as well as the various programs and populations of Brenau, including women’s education and voice. The President will have a proven record of building relationships both within and beyond the campus community; foster an environment for ethical behavior, civility, respect for individual persons and personalities, and strong personal integrity; demonstrate a significant disposition toward fairness and transparency in governance and compliance; and, most importantly, have a commitment to the mission and values of the University.
