Associate Director of Gift Services, UCLA Advancement Services

UCLA Advancement Services performs vital administrative, financial and technology services to External Affairs departments, and it facilitates and supports the broad range of its customers’ activities through a variety of value-added services including fund management. This department is a key partner in major initiatives across External Affairs that span a wide variety of financial functions, business applications and system technologies.

As the Associate Director of Gift Services, you will report to the Senior Director of Gift services and will help supervise the development, implementation and management of programs to ensure quality, accuracy, completeness and integrity of the gift, membership and biographic data entered into and maintained in the University’s Alumni and Donor database. You will provide project management support, prepare analyses and recommendations of gift and fund issues, and serve as a liaison among multiple internal constituents. As the Associate Director, you will also play a key leadership role on the team, supervising four Fund Analysts and being responsible for developing goals and setting operational standards within Gift Services.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you will have knowledge of university and IRS policies and regulations regarding establishment, utilization, and fund accounting of gifts and endowments; knowledge of CASE, NACUBO, and GASB standards of management reporting of private support in institutions of higher education; and demonstrated proficiency with software including using CRM, Solomon and Excel to report and track gifts/funds. In addition, knowledge and experience working with relational databases and interfaces is preferred. As the Associate Director, you will have advanced organizational and leadership skills combined with demonstrated supervisory skills and experience; advanced written and oral communication skills; and essential interpersonal skills that include the ability to maintain position and effective working relationships with deans, senior campus and university administrators, and staff members. In addition, you will have political acumen, tact, judgment and skill in handling sensitive situations and materials with discretion while maintaining confidentiality. You will be a strategic thinker, able to analyze information and complex multi-faceted problems and situations.
