Lecturer Technology Liason

Summary of Position           

The Watson College of Education on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington is currently seeking applicants for the position of Lecturer/Technology Liaison. This is a non-tenure track lecturer position. The Lecturer/Technology Liaison works to design and integrate technology-enhanced education experiences for faculty, staff, and students in the Watson College of Education. The successful candidate will be competent in designing and delivering instructional technology training for University level faculty and staff, and K-12 teachers, and have a background in instructional design. The Technology Liaison is a member of the Educational Technology Unit (ETU) in the Watson College of Education and reports to the director of the ETU. Additional duties include:

- Teaches undergraduate live and online courses in instructional design, instructional technology, and other areas as needed within the College of Education.

- Provides technical, and design assistance to faculty and staff in the creation and delivery of online courses and face to face courses

- Serves as a member of the course planning team, which is charged with assigning and implementing courses that address technology competencies required by state and national accrediting and licensing bodies

- Creates and develops online and face to face staff development for public school teachers in collaboration with the College of Education Professional Development system in the areas of instructional design and technology integration

- Provides faculty/staff support and training for online courses and course development

- Provides faculty/staff training and support for software and hardware applications

- Serves on related committees

- Provides support and training to faculty in online delivery tools including Taskstream, Canvas, and Zoom

- Keeps current and knowledgeable about emerging hardware and software, and participates in the planning of hardware, software, lab and overall technology needs for the Watson College of Education

- Researches, discovers and assists in writing potential grants for the Educational Technology Unit of the Watson College of Education

Minimum Requirements     

- Masters Degree in Education, Instructional Design or Technology Education

- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and development

- Experience and training in instructional design and development

Preferred Qualifications     

- Evidence of skills in a wide range of contemporary instructional technologies, and their implications for use in the K-12, and university level environments

-Classroom teaching experience in public schools desired

It is the mission of the Educational Technology Unit to support faculty, staff, administration, and public school partners of the Watson College of Education in the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. The Watson College of Education is proud of our facility and the outstanding technical capabilities that lie within. The WCE strives to ensure that all faculty, staff, students, and guests have a plethora of innovative technology at their fingertips every time they enter any area of our education building.

The Watson College of Education (WCE) (www.uncw.edu/ed) is a rapidly growing college with over 60 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master’s programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master’s and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership. It offers several international study programs, a newly developed laboratory school, and maintains partnerships with numerous school districts, community colleges, and colleges/universities in the region.
