PROVOST

Bucknell University

Provost

Lewisburg, Pennsylvania

Bucknell University seeks an accomplished academic and outstanding administrative leader to serve as its next provost. As chief academic officer of the University, the provost is responsible for the conduct, coordination, and quality of all of Bucknell’s academic programs, research activities, and student life and services, with the overall charge to lead Bucknell’s faculty and academic programs to the forefront of American and global higher education. The University is seeking a courageous and passionate decision-maker eager to join an already outstanding academic environment, who will take the lead in elevating Bucknell to its next level of excellence.

Bucknell University is a highly selective, privately endowed, unique national university where liberal arts and professional programs complement each other. Bucknell offers baccalaureate degree programs to approximately 3,600 undergraduates and master’s degree programs to 100 students. In recent years, Bucknell has taken its place among the nation’s elite academic institutions, but the University strives to do more. The provost will be an astute academic and administrative leader who will leverage opportunities offered by Bucknell’s distinct academic range and drive innovation at the intersection of its colleges.

The provost will arrive at a time of clear expectations for the future with a new strategic plan, an outstanding faculty, committed staff, eager students, and an opportunity to manage change and influence key decisions. The provost leads the dean of student affairs and the deans of the three colleges – the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the new Freeman College of Management – and works closely and collaboratively with the president, the Operations & Management Group (OMG), and other senior officers to manage Bucknell’s resources and achieve its academic and institutional goals.

The successful provost candidate will present superb academic credentials and experience that qualify for appointment as a full professor with tenure at Bucknell. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to academic excellence and impeccable academic judgment; a passion for the residential student experience; a steadfast and unwavering ethical compass; a commitment to diversity in all its forms; experience with senior academic administration; a demonstrated track record of interdisciplinary thinking; strategic, visionary, and entrepreneurial leadership; and eloquent and enthusiastic outreach and communication.
