Job Summary
The College of St. Scholastica invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English with specialization in Rhetoric and Composition to begin August 2019. We are seeking applicants with expertise in Digital Rhetorics and a secondary interest in Rhetorics of Race and Ethnicity, Rhetorics of Gender and Sexuality, or Rhetorics of Environmentalism and Sustainability. We are particularly interested in applicants who also have training and interest in teaching literature courses. The individual hired will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, foster a culture of inclusion in the classroom, and participate in faculty committee work. The department values diversity among its faculty and strongly encourages applications from individuals who are underrepresented in higher education. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. Applications received by November 1 will receive priority consideration.

Key Results/Responsibilities: Teach a 3/3 load and develop new coursework within the department: a typical semester would consist of a course for majors, a general education course, and a writing course in first-year composition or management writing. Additional responsibilities may include academic advising, College service, and scholarly-creative engagement in the discipline. Faculty at St. Scholastica contribute to and participate in fostering a culture of inclusion in support of College diversity goals.

Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. in English completed by August of 2019
• Demonstrated success working with diverse populations, cross-cultural communication skills, and multicultural competency
• Experience or demonstrated interest in teaching undergraduate courses in writing and literature

Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to develop and teach online courses
