Assistant or Associate Professor in Human Factors - Multiple Positions

Michigan Technological University seeks applicants for multiple tenure-track positions, in support of strategic program growth, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Cognitive and Learning Sciences (www.mtu.edu/cls).

A Ph.D. in Psychology, Human Factors, or a related discipline is required by August 15, 2019. The area of the Ph.D. is not as important as finding a great colleague who can contribute to the undergraduate program in Psychology (BS) and our graduate programs in Applied Cognitive Science and Human Factors (MS and Ph.D.).

While all areas of expertise within a broadly defined Human Factors (HF) application will be considered, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in HCI, health HF, automotive HF, UI/UX, training, intelligent tutoring, and/or instructional design. Successful candidates will complement our strengths in Decision Making, Computational Modeling, Physiology, Motor Behavior, Attention, Aging, Human Computer Interaction, and Video Games.

Applicants should have a record of/potential for excellence grounded in theory with an applied emphasis, a willingness to pursue research collaborations with Michigan Tech faculty and a commitment to attracting external funding. New faculty will benefit from supportive colleagues, new state-of-the-art laboratory equipment (NADS miniSim, Tobii Eye Tracker, EEG, fNIRS, KINARM Robotic Lab for motor behavior, motion capture), active learning classroom facilities, internal grant workshops, faculty mentoring, and cross-disciplinary collaboration opportunities. Typical teaching load is two courses per semester.

Our goal is to attract world-class faculty to enrich the educational experience of our bright, motivated, and adventurous students. MTU is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse faculty committed to teaching and working in a multicultural environment and strongly encourages applications from women and minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.
