Assistant, Associate or Professor- Biomedical Engineering
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) seeks an accomplished, dynamic and innovative tenure-track/tenured faculty member in biomedical engineering at the rank of assistant, associate or professor. The successful candidate will be expected to establish of an internationally recognized research program in biomedical engineering. The incumbent will be expected to establish an internationally recognized research program in biomedical engineering in collaboration with the Texas Tech Foster School of Medicine. An interest in contributing to interdisciplinary research teams in neurosciences, bioprinting, smart cities, or the health focused interprofessional community of practice is a plus. The successful candidate will also have academic responsibilities in the graduate programs in biomedical engineering as well as the planned undergraduate BS program. The incumbent is expected to mentor master’s and Ph.D. level students, maintain an active and independent research agenda, secure extramural funding, serve on university committees and establish collaborative efforts with local and regional institutions of higher education. The anticipated appointment date is fall semester of 2019.
The UTEP College of Engineering is a vibrant research environment, integrating education, research and engineering practice and entrepreneurship as a potent economic stimulator for the region. UTEP’s College of Engineering has established close ties and collaborations with the TTUHSC Foster School of Medicine Department of Biomedical Sciences. UTEP has centers for excellence on infectious diseases, and obesity, cancer, neurosciences, 3D printing and emergent biotechnologies with cores on genomics, proteomics, flow cytometry, histopathology, clinical chemistry, mass spectroscopy and imaging. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have a commitment to diversity and collaboration, superior communication skills, ability to mentor students, potential to secure NIH or other government funding and an overall a record of achievement in research documented by a strong publication record that is commensurate with the rank sought. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in biomedical engineering or a related field and must possess credentials that meet the qualifications for appointment at the assistant, associate or professor level. Applicants should have a compelling vision of the future direction of biomedical engineering research.
