The Department of History at New York University is seeking to hire for a full-time, tenure-track historian of pre-modern China at the rank of Assistant Professor, whose work concentrates on the pre-19th century Ming-Qing periods. Earlier chronological concentrations will also be considered. The Department is interested in scholars whose work can open to broader arenas of inquiry, whether that breadth is geographical, temporal, and/or theoretical. Sub-specialization is entirely open.
