TCU, Department of English, Lillian Radford Chair in Rhetoric and Composition

The English Department at TCU invites applications for the Radford Chair, specialization open.

 

Established in 1983, the Radford Chair is the oldest endowed chair in rhetoric and composition in the United States. TCU has one of the earliest rhetoric and composition graduate programs in the nation, training PhDs specializing in writing studies since the early 1970s. Previous chairs include Winifred Horner, Susan Jarratt, Jan Swearingen, and Richard Enos.

 

The position includes a 1-1 load, a generous research fund, and a dedicated graduate research assistant.

 

The Radford chair should have produced significant, influential scholarship in rhetoric, composition, literacy studies, or related fields. We seek candidates whose lived experiences would prove resourceful in mentoring students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds. Named and endowed chairs in TCU's English department carry responsibilities for providing leadership of curricular innovation and professional development of colleagues. We seek scholars with a sustained research agenda and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Required: Doctorate in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Literacy Studies, or related fields; currently tenured at the rank of advanced associate or full professor.
