Assistant Professor of Philosophy


The Department of Philosophy, University of California, San Diego (http://philosophy.ucsd.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in philosophy of science, especially philosophy of physics. Duties include active research, graduate supervision, normal committee service, and classroom teaching at all levels, including general education courses, courses for undergraduate majors and graduate seminars. The standard teaching load is four courses per year. The appointment is expected to begin 1 July 2019.

Qualifications: The department is particularly interested in recruiting candidates who display the highest standards of excellence in research, teaching and professional activity. Required: Ph.D. in Philosophy or expect to complete Ph.D. prior to start of the appointment; track-record of research publications and teaching experience; experience or a willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. The Department of Philosophy at UC San Diego is committed to both academic excellence and diversity in the faculty, staff, and student body.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
