Supervisor, HVAC Controls & Automation

General Purpose: Direct and supervise a team of HVAC/Control Mechanics and other trades in monitoring, adjusting, and maintaining University energy levels and protocols. Coordinates and supervises the activities related to routine and emergency building maintenance and environmental systems in a 24/7 operation. Manage and coordinate activities for service and maintenance response with various service responders to ensure timely delivery and completion of service work throughout the University buildings and other related areas. Provide customer interface, response services, dispatch services, work order input and maintenance. Prepares and presents to higher level authorities reports on operations, maintenance problems and system performance. Must be available to respond to emergencies and determine on call coverage for three shifts, seven days a week.

 

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree. Seven years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and trades-related experience. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of controls automation analysis and programming and Building Automation systems pertaining to HVAC and HVA direct digital controls. Proven ability with Direct Digital Control (DDC) programming and the continuous commissioning of Building Automation Systems (BAS) for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Proven ability to provide strong administrative management to assess and maintain staffing needs, deal with employee relations and service the needs of University customers. Ability to make rapid and appropriate judgments during emergency situations.
  • Well developed supervisory skills including ability with progressive discipline and performance feedback with proven ability to direct customer focused teams providing maintenance services.
  • Proven ability to analyze the data produced by the various maintenance management systems. Proven ability to maintain, manage and prepare scheduling, word processing, payroll and spreadsheet documents and reports and to present reporting materials.
