The Darden School Foundation, the 501(c)3 organization that supports the Business School, seeks a President, Executive Education and Lifelong Learning to join the Executive Education enterprise. The President will oversee critical programs including the Advanced Management Program at Darden called TEP (The Executive Program), the Management Development Program (MDP), Darden Business Essentials, and the Partnership for Leadership in Education (a successful program with the Curry School of Education that focuses on turning around school systems) and all other open enrollment and certificate or micro-credential programs, delivered both in person via Darden classroom and through technology-enabled methods. The President will also oversee other UVA partnerships, Coursera and other technology partnerships and programs. He or she will have full accountability for this revenue line, and manage a team responsible for content, program development, technology and instructional design innovation, digital and traditional marketing, and generating and converting leads.

 

This position focuses on critical parts of Darden’s mission: extending the impact of Darden’s faculty’s thought leadership globally, providing lifelong learning opportunities for business and not-for-profit leaders that extend far beyond the degree, and creating accessible and affordable platforms and delivery for just-in-time learning.

 

Further, this position will be the incubation laboratory for innovation and many digital transformation and partnership elements that have the promise to transform the Darden enterprise, and benefit the University. In this respect, it will function as a center of excellence for the Darden enterprise, and will be very entrepreneurial.

 

A desired profile includes either a seasoned executive education leader at a top academic institution, an experienced digital or technology enabled learning executive, a successful professional services executive or consultant with an appreciation for executive education, technology, talent/leadership development and profit and loss leadership, a Chief Learning Officer at a strong company known for talent development, and/or a senior executive or c-suite level leader who has demonstrated strategic thinking and the ability to relate to client needs for capability building and leadership development and is able to understand technology enabled learning. Track record in business management and leadership that required strategic planning, communication, revenue generation, pipeline and sales management in a highly consultative business development environment, brand deployment, fiscal responsibility and human capital strategies. A P&L leader of a successful business or multiple businesses. Executive and seasoned professional familiar with global business trends, capability building and leadership development challenges.

 

The role will partner closely with Darden Business Publishing, Data Analytics, Marketing and Communications, Darden Media and Instructional Design, and the faculty on creation of new content and design relevant to business and leadership development challenges. Through this, the President will innovate, grow impact, and increase relevance and engagement for the Executive Education enterprise.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience growing client relationships and impact in learning and development, HR, and/or talent management services at the B2C and/or B2B level.
  • Ability to oversee the design process for blended learning offerings with clients - from idea generation, to program development to program measurement, and to effectively manage various stakeholders in the process.
  • Ability to future-think and envision design, implement and operationalize creative program design elements to ensure Darden’s reputation as an executive education provider of excellence.
  • A global mindset and ability to develop relationships with culturally diverse organizations.
  • A bias for action and the ability to manage to deadlines and budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of management, faculty and business community.

 

Bachelor’s degree from a high quality, accredited institution; an MBA, doctorate or other terminal degree is strongly preferred.
