Dean, College of Business

Missouri State University, Springfield, MO, invites applications for the position of Dean, College of Business.  The Dean provides academic, administrative, and fiscal leadership to the College and reports directly to the Provost.  The Dean also holds the David D. Glass Distinguished Leadership Chair.

The University is seeking an individual with the vision and leadership qualities necessary to continue to enhance the future for an already strong College of Business.  The person selected must have a strong record of academic leadership in higher education, a terminal degree in a business related field, and credentials that qualify him/her for appointment as a full professor in one of the units within the College.

  • Commitment to excellence in and an appropriate balance of teaching, research and service;
  • Understanding of and experience with the AACSB accreditation process;
  • Personal qualities that facilitate working relationships within the University as well as with alumni and business leaders;
  • Experience in fundraising, alumni relations and development activities;
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity

The Search Committee expects to select a new dean during fall 2018 to assume full-time responsibilities as early as possible in 2019.  The salary is highly competitive with AACSB-accredited institutions and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The College:

The College of Business is composed of six academic units: the School of Accountancy and the Departments of Management and Information Technology; Merchandising & Fashion Design; Finance and General Business; Marketing; and Technology and Construction Management.  In addition to the Dean and two Associate Deans, there are approximately 100 full-time faculty and 39 staff, 51 graduate assistants, and a number of part-time faculty and staff in the College.  The College of Business enrolls over 5,300 students (4500 undergraduate and 700 graduate) in twenty-six undergraduate major options and five graduate programs.  In any one calendar year, nearly one-third of the students graduating from Missouri State University are business majors.  The AACSB International accredits the College’s business and accounting programs and this past year extended both accreditations.

The College of Business is located in David D. Glass Hall, a state-of-the-art learning facility with high-tech classrooms, computer labs and a mock trading floor.  Student support within the College is enhanced through a Business Advisement Center and a dedicated branch of University Career Services.
