1. Title: Assistant Professor - Education Scholar Pathway
2. Location: Department of Medicine
3. Date Available: Immediately
4. Responsibilities: Full-time Faculty, Public Health Program
General Responsibilities (From the College of Medicine Faculty Handbook and Standards and Guidelines for Faculty Appointment, Reappointment, and Promotion):
 Faculty in the Education Scholar Pathway are expected to participate in scholarship / research activities or render service related to the educational mission of the College. Research or service not related to the education pathway is encouraged, recognizing the individual's contributions in the education arena are the primary responsibility and the cornerstone of personnel decisions.
 As described in the COM Faculty Handbook, educational activities are divided into the following five categories: 1/ teaching; 2/ curriculum development; 3/ advising and mentoring; 4/ education leadership and administration; and 5/ assessment at learner, course, program and institutional levels.
Detailed Responsibilities:
• Develop online, graduate-level, public health courses, and teach 12-15 credits per year;
• Advise and mentor graduate students in conducting applied and collaborative research, and public health projects that advance population health science and practice;
• Participate in developing, mentoring, and coordinating MPH capstone projects (integrated practice experiences and applied practice experiences) as assigned.
• Obtain grant funding to enhance the research component of the University of Vermont public health program priorities, including applied public health research in areas of excellence and other identified areas of scholarship.
• Work collaboratively with public health faculty and the faculty director to enable dynamic development of new public health programs;
• Work collaboratively with faculty outside the program in areas of public health, such as with other Department and Colleges at UVM, and outside agencies such as the Vermont Department of Health and non-profit organizations;
• Serve the community and university through involvement on committees and participation in public and professional organizations, government and community groups.
• Other duties as assigned.
5. Qualifications:
 Doctoral level training in public health or related discipline, in epidemiology and/or biostatistics; or doctoral level training in Medicine with Master’s level training in epidemiology or biostatistics.
 Effective organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills are essential.
 Previous online teaching experience is preferred.
 Practical experience working in the field of public health and/or applied research experience is encouraged
