Haile / US Bank College of Business

Northern Kentucky University

Highland Heights, KY

Northern Kentucky University (NKU) seeks a strategic and visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the Haile/US Bank College of Business (the College). The next dean will join NKU at a pivotal moment in its history. With the excitement of an incoming President, Dr. Ashish Vaidya, and the anticipated work on a new strategic plan and capital campaign, the institution is as poised and committed as ever to delivering student-centered education and to generating impactful research. As the leader of the endowed College of Business, the dean will join the provost’s academic leadership team to bring creative leadership, innovation, and growth to an eager and engaged community.

A growing regional university located in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati metropolitan area, NKU is committed to instilling a passion in its students that will lead them to fulfilling careers, community engagement, and meaningful lives. This commitment has been a driving force as the university has expanded academic offerings and advanced new opportunities for experiential learning for students. The NKU community can look back at the past decade with pride at the founding of two new colleges, the construction of several new buildings on campus, and a successful transition to Division I athletics.

The Haile/US Bank College of Business prepares over 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students annually. During the 2017–2018 academic year, the College provided student-centered programs and classes led by 61 full-time faculty members and a dedicated base of adjunct faculty. The AACSB and ACCE accredited college administers Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees, offering twelve different majors, including unique programs in entrepreneurship, sports business and event management, and construction management. Master’s degrees are offered in business administration, accountancy, and executive leadership and organizational change. Degrees are overseen by four departments: Accounting and Business Law; Economics and Finance; Management; and Marketing, Sports Business, and Construction Management. The College’s total budget for 2017-2018 is $9.5 million.

The College has also been a pioneer of online programs for the institution, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels and has recently leveraged existing strengths to build an international business focus that increases competitiveness in the region. The dean and seven outreach centers cultivate strong relationships with the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati business communities, which headquarter eight Fortune 500 companies, including Procter and Gamble, Kroger, Macy’s, Fifth-Third, and Western and Southern.

The dean reports to the provost and joins with other deans in the development of innovative programs and partnerships. The dean will collaborate with faculty to unite the College around a vision of the future and to draw new talent to the organization. This vision will leverage and build upon the College’s existing strengths, link strategy to the transdisciplinary initiatives at NKU, promote the College with a range of external constituents, and position it for ongoing competitive success in the region. The dean will be supported by a talented team in leading the College’s academic affairs, teaching and research enterprise, and financial and administrative operations. The dean will generate the financial resources necessary to complement the $15 million Haile/US Bank Foundation gift and make the common vision a reality, forging and maintaining relationships with business partners in the community.
