Dean, Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health

The Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a dynamic individual with proven leadership skills to assume the position of Dean. The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate or equivalent, be qualified for appointment in an academic discipline represented in the College, and have a record of outstanding scholarly achievement commensurate with appointment as a full professor.

About the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health:  The mission of the College is to improve the health, and promote the well-being of individuals, families, and communities in Arkansas through education, research, and service. The College has adopted a strong community-based health promotion orientation. This orientation is based on the premise that protection and improvement of a community’s health is best achieved through full participation of the community in health interventions and other initiatives. Reporting to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, the Dean has responsibility for 62 faculty members across the Departments of Biostatistics, Environmental & Occupational Health, Epidemiology, Health Behavior & Health Education, and Health Policy & Management. Across these five departments, there are 51 full-time faculty and 11 part-time faculty. In addition, there are four research centers, including the Arkansas Center for Minority Health Disparities, the Arkansas Prevention Research Center, the Arkansas Center for Excellence in Birth Defects Research & Prevention, the Center for the Study of Obesity, and the Center for the Study of Tobacco. The College enrolls 340 graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels. The Dean will have an important role in formulating and executing a strategic planning process. Since the Dean will be expected to take the lead role in implementing a strategic plan, essential requirements of the position are vision, collaboration, and leadership.
