Position Purpose:
The Director of the Certified Equity Professional Institute will provide direction for, and lead, all aspects of the Certified Equity Professional Institute, housed in the Executive Development Center, in its mission to establish, promote, and provide certification and continuing education for the equity compensation industry. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Executive Development Center, in the Leavey School of Business, at Santa Clara University.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Exam Administration and Execution
• Ensure exam registration targets are met annually
• Oversee all aspects of exam administration and scoring to ensure that the CEP program remains a legally defensible, high stakes, internationally accepted credential.
• Ensure that exam delivery is learner-friendly, aligned with modern credentialing trends, and attractive to potential test-takers.
• Ensure a positive test-taker experience from the time of inquiry, through test registration and program matriculation. Ensure test-taker experiences are streamlined and well organized, and that interactions with our institute are positive.
• Manage relationship with test administration contractor including contract negotiations and developing the scope of work for each exam cycle. 2. Exam Curriculum Development
• Provide administrative support to subject matter experts, volunteers, and contractors who oversee the development and execution of the CEP exam cycle. Ensure compliance to all SEC, IRS, GAAP, and other regulatory agencies. Ensure curriculum addresses industry best practices.
• Provide administrative support to publishers and authors of CEP required text books on an annual basis to ensure text books remain accurate and compliant to all relevant regulations.
• Solicit technical research and writing from internationally recognized industry leaders for inclusion in CEP exam curriculum.
• Provide administrative support to subject matter experts, volunteers, and contractors as needed for research efforts of the CEP Institute 3. Executive Chair of CEP Institute Advisory Board
• Direct, plan and lead meetings of the CEP Institute advisory board. Board is comprised of high-level industry leaders representing a full range of financial service and equity compensation issuing organizations.
• In conjunction with the elected Chair of the advisory board, develop strategic vision and direction for the CEP Institute for both short term and long-term planning.
• In conjunction with the elected Chair of the advisory board, establish annual goals and objectives for the CEP Institute.
• Lead advisory board in the strategic implementation of annual goals and objectives.
• Advise and provide support for committees of the board
• Ensure compliance with the advisory board charter and bylaws
• Court and select new board members as appropriate 4. Institute Administration
• Evaluate new markets to ensure consistent exam growth of the CEP certification program
• Work with director of finance to develop annual budgets for the CEP Institute to reflect goals and objectives of the organization and to adhere to all University and Leavey School of Business requirements and guidelines.
• Ensure the financial well-being of the CEP Institute
• Work with Leavey School of Business marketing team as well as the CEP Institute advisory board to ensure successful marketing initiatives
• Develop assessment programs and tools to capture data and measure effectiveness of institute systems, processes and initiatives, as well as CEP Institute stakeholder satisfaction
• Develop procedures, reports and other operations-related documents for the CEP Institute
• Recruit sponsors and manage champions of CEP Institute 5. Maintain a Presence in the Equity Compensation Industry
• Ensure representation at industry-related events, tradeshows, and conferences as needed to market and promote the institute and its products and services
• Leverage existing, and seek new, industry partnerships to meet strategic objectives of the institute
6. CEP Annual Symposia and Events
• Develop, manage and ensure the success of annual symposia and events related to the CEP Institute
• Develop and maintain budgets for events to achieve revenue targets
• Work with stakeholders to build new programs and events related to the CEP Institute
7. Other duties as assigned

GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services.
2. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
3. Maintains contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services.
4. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
5. Create and manage timely and efficient workflows and processes.
6. Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
7. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
8. Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.

• Program Manager for the CEP Institute
• Subject matter consultants
• Student workers and interns as needed
• Future staff as required

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Typical office and computer lab environment. Mostly indoor office environment. Offices with equipment noise. Offices with frequent interruptions

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of certification process for high stakes credentials required
• Familiarity with careers and career paths in equity compensation preferred
• Related industry knowledge including familiarity with the leading service providers, issuers, auditors, analysts, trade organizations and software service providers in the equity compensation arena preferred
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word required

Skills:
• Highly professional and effective written and oral communication skills required to interact with high level industry executives.
• Very strong presentation skills required
• Strong leadership and management skills required to facilitate leading various teams of subject matter experts and the Advisory Board
• Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple ongoing projects
• Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with a diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
• Attention to detail and analytic skills required for problem solving and troubleshooting

Abilities:
• Ability to effectively sell the products and services of the institute and recruit new partners
• Ability to speak one-on-one with potential customers
• Ability to develop short and long range goals
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required, master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in higher education administration, fundraising and development, sales, accounting, law, tax, or related field required
• 5+ years of program/project management experience required, 10+ years preferred
• Understanding of the Equity Compensation industry preferred

Salary Information: $3145.00 - $3697.50 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience
