DEAN OF ADMISSION

Colgate University

DEAN OF ADMISSION

Hamilton, NY

Colgate University seeks a dedicated, analytical, and strategic enrollment management professional to serve as their Dean of Admission. This is a newly added role in the Colgate Admission Office, reporting directly to the Vice President for Admission and Financial Aid while helping to guide the President, Cabinet, Board of Trustees, and Admission and Financial Aid teams at a time of significant long-term planning at the University.

Colgate is among the most selective liberal arts colleges in the country, renowned for its intellectual rigor, the vitality of its breathtaking campus, and the contributions of its alumni across a variety of fields and endeavors. The University boasts small classes, a strong emphasis on faculty-student interaction, and a residential community valuing all forms of intellectual rigor. Colgate’s faculty members are leading teachers and scholars, committed to intellectual engagement in all its forms. Colgate’s approximately 2,900 highly motivated, selectively admitted students achieve intellectually, athletically, and artistically, and are actively engaged in the world around them.

It is an exciting moment at Colgate University with a president in his second year, a newly-formed senior administrative team, a capital campaign in the planning stages, and an institutional bicentennial celebration on the horizon. The President has engaged the faculty, the staff and administration, and the Board of Trustees in a comprehensive planning effort designed to significantly strengthen Colgate across the totality of its mission.

The incoming Dean will lead a long-term strategic planning process to ensure Colgate’s continued success and future ability to attract outstanding students. While Colgate continues to enjoy enviable market strength, increasing costs of attendance and shrinking demographics nationwide will create challenges for Colgate and its peer institutions in continuing to enroll students of profound promise and achievement. The Dean will guide the Admission team as they work to grow, diversify, and raise the academic caliber of their applicant pool. Primary responsibilities for the Dean will include: initiating strategic planning for Colgate’s growth and diversification in admissions; interpreting data and inspiring a culture of information-driven decision making; and assessing the efficacy of current admission and financial aid operations.

The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated knowledge of and current best practices in thriving programs for admission and financial aid management, and an in-depth understanding of student market trends, data analytics, and prospect development. Candidates must also possess excellent statistical, communication, and interpersonal skills, be committed to the University’s dedication to diversity, and be prepared to join academic and administrative colleagues in maintaining the high quality of education for its students while moving the institution forward in national and international prominence.
