Senior Audio Visual (AV) Systems Programmer

The George Mason University, Information Technology Services (ITS), Learning Support Services, Classroom Support-Fairfax team-located on the Fairfax, Va. campus- invites applications for a Senior AV Systems Programmer to work as part of a team of technicians to maintain the smooth operation of a large, multi-campus portfolio of presentation systems. Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position works closely with AV engineers, project managers, support staff, network engineers, leadership, and others to ensure appropriate availability of robust classroom functionality and support tools. This position is responsible for managing an enterprise-level remote support architecture for classrooms and other supported presentation systems. This position manages and maintains a substantial Crestron Fusion application. This position works in a team-oriented environment that requires significant collaboration and effective communication to successfully carry out the mission. The role is involved in project work as well as ongoing support concerns.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience designing, executing, deploying, and troubleshooting enterprise-scale software solutions;
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of Crestron hardware and software solutions in a networked AV environment;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming tools including C#, SIMPL#, SIMPL Windows, Power shell scripting, front-end web development tools, Adobe, etc., as well as experience designing user interfaces;
  • Demonstrated experience designing, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting a large portfolio of back-end support tools, including a substantial Fusion application;
  • Experience working on installation projects and a knowledge of project management techniques;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced user-support environment as the ultimate diagnostic/escalation point for hardware and software issues across the environment;
  • Experience working in an AV rack environment; 
  • Demonstrated command of written and oral communication; 
  • Experience working in a team environment to complete complex assignments with tight deadlines; and
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and climb a ladder up to 10 feet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry and manufacturer certifications; such as Crestron Masters Certification, Crestron advanced programming certification;
  • 3 or more years’ experience configuring/programming Crestron systems; and 
  • Experience working in a higher-education environment. 

Salary is up to $65,000; commensurate with education and experience.
