Montgomery College, located just north of Washington, D.C. in Maryland, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of Business, Economics, Accounting, Computer Applications, Hospitality Management and Paralegal Studies (BEACAHMPS). On three campuses, at off-site locations and online, over 25,000 students are enrolled at Montgomery College in more than 130 programs of study. The College attributes its success to the strength of its academic programs, access for students in both the U.S. and internationally to career-relevant programs, and the dedication of its faculty members to effective learning and student success. Montgomery College is under the vibrant leadership of President Dr. DeRionne Pollard, who took over leadership in 2010, and who led the development of the College's current strategic plan, MC2020. The College was recently named a best community college by the New York Times and the Chronicle of Higher Education report in 2014 named Montgomery College the tenth most diverse public two-year institution in the nation.

As a senior academic officer for BEACAHMPS, the instructional dean works collaboratively with his/her faculty and staff, the Vice President and Provost, and fellow deans in the Arts, Business, Education, English and Social Sciences (ABEESS) unit. Further, s/he is expected to demonstrate collaboration and leadership across Montgomery College, and with business and community stakeholders to foster and expand career-relevant academic programs, enhance educational pathways and opportunities, deepen and expand business and community partnerships, and develop innovative educational approaches to increase student enrollment and success. The BEACAHMPS dean is also responsible for creating a shared vision in the BEACAHMPS area and providing effective strategic leadership that advances the College's Strategic Plan, MC2020, the Academic Master Plan, including the six academic goals which are: Increase graduation, increase transfer, decrease time to degree, decrease cost of degree, align curricula with four-year institutions, and align curricula with the needs of business and industry.

As an institutional leader and manager of career-relevant, business and professional programs that include the highly effective Macklin Business Institute, and the Hillman Entrepreneurs Program, the BEACAHMPS dean needs to possess the skills necessary to continually enhance and expand the reach of these programs within the College, with four-year institutions and with current and prospective donors. Further, the dean also garners support for the College's business and professional programs from donor, alumni, internal and external stakeholders, including non-profit and for-profit sectors, government and other educational and business-related organizations. The BEACAHMPS dean builds coalitions and promotes outreach efforts that engage the College, its partners, and other stakeholders to anticipate and respond to county, state, national and international trends and issues in business, hospitality, and paralegal education. The dean leads energetic efforts to secure partners in delivering educational programs, quality academic curricula, and cultivating development and fundraising opportunities with the public and private sectors in support of the College's students, programs, and events in BEACAHMPS.

The dean oversees the day-to-day administration of the BEACAHMPS area, managing its capital, human, fiscal, and other critical resources. The ideal candidate for this position will be a visionary, transformative, inclusive, and deliberative leader with the ability to act as a catalyst for developing the business and related alliances to foster student academic achievement and business leaders' investment to support the goals of a large, diverse community college in a major metropolitan area.

The College seeks an effective leader with a distinguished record of work in business, hospitality management and related fields, and administrative experience that evidences a strong commitment to excellence in business and professional education. Candidates must also be skilled in using data analytics to provide evidence-based decision-making and to manage fiscal resources to maximize the benefit to students, faculty, and the community.

Required Qualifications
The selected candidate will have a minimum of a master's degree in one of the disciplines in Business, Economics, Accounting, Hospitality Management or a closely related field. Further, s/he will have at least five years of progressively responsible experience as a leader in a business-related educational setting, industry or as a department chair, associate dean, associate provost, or equivalent academic administrator at the department, college, or organizational level. In order to lead the faculty, staff and students of BEACAHMPS, the selected candidate is required to have college teaching experience in one of the disciplines taught in BEACAHMPS. The selected candidate should have knowledge of policies, procedures, operations, functions and services in a department or division related to BEACAHMPS or in a related for-profit, non-profit or relevant educational setting. The candidate must also demonstrate that s/he has prior academic administrative experience including curriculum development, faculty recruitment and development, business collaboration, community engagement, and budget management.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have a doctorate or terminal degree, preferably in one of the areas taught in BEACAHMPS or a closely related field. Demonstrated, prior success in fostering collaborations and strategic partnerships with business organizations and other academic organizations is preferred. The selected candidate should also have previous experience leading experiential learning initiatives including national initiatives such as ENACTUS. Also, the chosen candidate will demonstrate previous success in fostering global business and academic alliances that involve students and offer global learning opportunities at the College. In addition, the selected candidate will demonstrate knowledge and experience analyzing and using data for effective decision making regarding planning, curriculum, and facilities management. Demonstrated experience working with students with a similar demographic as Montgomery College, with demonstrated, successful student success outcomes is also preferred.
