Assistant/Associate Professor – Precision Agriculture (Jonesboro, AR)

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead a high impact educational and applied research program in precision agriculture technologies and large scale farm data management (Big Data) for the Division and the State. The successful candidate will develop an extramurally-funded support program and provide state and regional leadership in this technological area. Areas of focus may include evaluation of big data management systems, assessment of their practical value, evaluation of GPS/GIS yield monitoring systems, grid soil sampling and application, remote sensing by drones or other means, smart farming, or other precision ag technologies. The candidate will function as part of a multidisciplinary team addressing these new technologies.

Required: Ph.D. in the Agricultural Sciences, Engineering or related field with an emphasis in precision agriculture, agriculture data management systems, ag technology or related field is required. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated educational abilities are required. The ability to work in a team setting, mentor graduate students and support staff is required. The ability to drive, travel extensively, have a personal vehicle with liability insurance in effect, and work independently is required. Ability to secure, manage and deliver extramurally funded projects is required. Prefer: Experience in precision agriculture technology, agriculture data management, and modern agriculture production systems is highly preferred. Experience in diverse agronomic crop production systems highly preferred.
