Assistant/Associate Professor – Weed Science (Lonoke, AR)

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, designing and implementing an extramurally-funded and widely recognized Extension and Applied Research program in crop weed management as well as supporting adoption of relevant best management practices for rice, soybean and other cropping systems. Applied research to address existing and emerging weed problems, including herbicide-resistant weeds and sustainable management technology will be a priority along with an effective, high impact extension education program to assure broad adoption. Dedicated advisory support to county agents, consultants, growers, industry and other stakeholders as needed will be a given.

Required: 

This position requires a Ph.D. in Weed Science or highly related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Knowledge of herbicide chemistry and herbicide symptomology required.Documented ability to work effectively in a team setting and with different audiences is required.Physical and mental ability to effectively perform all responsibilities including long and irregular hours and frequent travel are required.Driving is required and the candidate must have transportation for use on the job with liability insurance in effect. Prefer:Specialized experience in applied field research, field demonstrations, extension education, and diverse crop production is preferred. Experience in team research and programs preferred. Experience in management of research equipment, extramural grants, personnel preferred.
