Provost
Salisbury University, located on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore, seeks its next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. Salisbury University (SU) is one of twelve institutions of the University System of Maryland and is committed to meeting the emerging needs of students and families, the surrounding community, the state of Maryland, and the nation. As SU's 100th anniversary approaches in 2025, the next provost has an opportunity to partner with a new president and join a seasoned team to set a bold, inspired course for the future.

SU is a student-centered, public regional comprehensive university with over 60 distinct academic programs, including 47 undergraduate majors, 15 master's degrees, and two doctoral programs. SU offers a warm, friendly, inclusive environment where more than 600 faculty and 1,100 staff members serve a student population of approximately 7,100 undergraduate and graduate students. With a student-faculty ratio of 13:1, the university fosters close engagement between students and faculty and brings together talented students from across campus in collaborative research, professional development, and experiential learning opportunities. SU has been nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report (Top Public Schools, Best Value Schools), The Princeton Review (Best Colleges, Green Colleges, Best College Libraries), Forbes (Top Colleges, Best Value Colleges), Money (America's Best Colleges), Kiplinger's (Best Public College Values), and others.

SU is located in the city of Salisbury, close to ocean beaches and the Chesapeake Bay, and two hours from the metropolitan areas of Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Salisbury is undergoing an exciting downtown revitalization and is ranked among the Best Places to Live by U.S. News and World Report . SU boasts strong relationships within the city of Salisbury and in the greater region and recently received the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, recognizing the university's commitment to community-engaged learning. SU also benefits from strong philanthropic support by alumni and community donors, reflected in its five endowed schools and colleges and in its recently concluded fundraising campaign that raised over $75 million.

Salisbury University seeks a provost who possesses the leadership skills, broad knowledge, and character to serve as a trusted advisor to the president and the chief proxy for her on campus and off. The provost will enjoy being a change agent on a collaborative, cohesive campus in a state that values and supports higher education. Leadership opportunities for the new provost include setting the direction for the academic program and students to be served; propelling SU's high-quality teaching, mentorship, and support for students; and furthering the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; among others.

The next provost will have demonstrated experience creating and executing strategic plans for academic program development and review, increasing enrollment, delivering on DEI objectives, and building diverse and high-functioning teams. The provost will also have a strong record of teaching and research and be eligible for tenure at the full professor level.
