Vice President for Development

Augusta University seeks a dynamic and highly accomplished development leader to serve as its Vice President for Development. Located in Augusta, Georgia, this public research university and medical center is dedicated to training the next generation of innovators, leaders and health care providers.

The Vice President for Development has primary responsibility for achieving annual and campaign fundraising goals, coordinating and shepherding multi-disciplinary fundraising projects to completion, and building the pipeline of future major gift donors for Augusta University. In addition to managing a pool of leadership-level donors, the Vice President will directly manage the development team and ensure execution of the soon-to-be public comprehensive campaign’s strategic plan.

The Vice President will be responsible for the overall leadership of university development at Augusta University and AU Health. This leader will oversee the functions of alumni affairs, annual giving, corporate giving, foundation giving, major giving, planned giving and prospect research and management. He/she will work collaboratively with the Augusta University Foundation, The Georgia Health Sciences Foundation and the Medical College of Georgia Foundation. 

The Vice President will work with trustees, high-level volunteers, and colleagues (deans, physicians and members of senior administration) to achieve all fundraising goals. The incumbent will be charged with taking a solid foundation in giving programs and implementing a more integrated fundraising approach to maximize effectiveness across all levels of the organization. A chief priority will include being a key facilitator in cross-functional efforts and across the entire team.

He/she will possess exceptional leadership qualities such as an open, creative problem-solving approach, and a collaborative and collegial spirit. The Vice President will need to be a strategic thinker, with experience in an institution of considerable organizational complexity typified by matrix relationships of power and influence. Finding a leader with experience in a campaign setting is required, and experience in the design of such an effort is a distinct preference. He/she will also have a reputation as a person of high integrity and a person of trust.
