Professor of Visual Effects

SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time professor of visual effects - a master of illusion, familiar with creating believable images that are impossible (or impractical) to shoot in the real world - to help talented students make their own incredible dreams a reality.

In this role, you will also demonstrate expert proficiency in photorealistic rendering and shading, as well as programming to extend the functionality of Maya, Houdini, and shaders.

The successful candidate will demonstrate familiarity with industry standard rendering and shading techniques and must be familiar with current trends and technological developments in visual effects. The candidate should be comfortable in a LINUX environment and with software such as Renderman, PRman, and Arnold, including the use of RenderMan-for-Maya and Maya-to-Arnold plugins. The ideal candidate should also have knowledge of scripting Houdini’s VEX and Disney’s SeExpr language as well as expertise/interest in advances toward real-time rendering. Familiarity with other renderers such as RedShift is a bonus.

Requirements:
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in visual effects or a related field
- College-level teaching experience preferred
- Familiarity with UV and ptex techniques, and the USD file format
- Knowledge of C++ and Python languages

Minimum Qualifications:

- Terminal degree in the discipline or in a related field.
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
- Experience in or knowledge of related professions.
- Academic and professional credentials to teach in a certain discipline.
