Chief Advancement Officer, Palm Beach County

The University of Florida (UF), a member of the American Association of Universities (AAU) and Florida's public flagship university, seeks a visionary and strategic Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) for Palm Beach County. Inquiries, nominations and applications are welcome.

The University of Florida is a truly dynamic institution - widely considered to be among the world's most comprehensive universities. It is one of only six institutions in the country with colleges of law, medicine, business, agriculture and veterinary medicine on one central campus and one of only 17 in the nation to boast land-, sea- and space-grant status. Guided by a shared passion for the greater good, the Gator Nation is a diverse and expansive community with a proven trajectory of excellence across academics, research, outreach, health, athletics and more.

The University of Florida raised an all-time record $1.06 billion last fiscal year, as the university nears the end of its eight-year GO GREATER campaign. The more than 196,000 gifts UF received in FY'22 from alumni and friends will enable the university to continue its climb as one of the nation's best public universities. It marks the third consecutive year that giving has surpassed $500 million. With UF's comprehensive campaign nearing its completion, the university has now exceeded its initial $3 billion goal, with $4.3 billion raised for students and faculty as well as programs, projects and research that serve Floridians and others across the globe.

The inaugural CAO, Palm Beach County will provide leadership in building high-performing comprehensive philanthropy and community outreach programs to support the Florida Global Technology & Innovation Campus at West Palm Beach, the UF Scripps Biomedical Research Center, and other strategic priorities outlined by the institution and the University of Florida Foundation, Inc. They will serve as the chief principal gift officer for the region, with a goal of $100+ million in commitments, building a pipeline of support through cultivating meaningful partnerships and relationships with alumni, donors, external partners, volunteers and community leaders.

The CAO, Palm Beach County has a hybrid reporting structure, with direct reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, and indirect reporting to the Provost, Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Sr. Vice President for Health Affairs. This position will work in partnership with the West Palm Beach Chief Academic Officer and the West Palm Beach Chief Operating Officer, and serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders. The CAO, Palm Beach County will hire and lead a team of four advancement professionals including an Executive Director of Advancement, West Palm Beach Campus, Executive Director of Advancement, UF Scripps Biomedical Research Center, Business Development Leader, UF Scripps Biomedical Research Center and an Administrative Assistant.

Ideal candidates must have a master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and ten years of appropriate experience with demonstrated success soliciting gifts at $5 million and above in an institution of higher education.
