Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, the Senior/ Associate Director, Annual Giving and Alumni Relations plans and executes all activities related to the annual fund and alumni relations on regional, national, and international level. Special emphasis is placed on donor contact (meetings), increased participation and gifts within the annual fund, and volunteer engagement.

Specific Responsibilities:

Annual Fund
  • Coordinates (Annual Giving Office B job profile) or Manages (Annual Giving Officer C job profile), plans, develops, and executes a comprehensive Annual Giving Program utilizing direct mail, email solicitations, text solicitations, peer to peer fundraising, and personal visits with emphasis on increasing participation rates, retention, and upgrading donors.
  • Acts as staff liaison to Central DAR's School and Center Annual Giving team, managing their efforts to regain lapsed donors to the School's Annual Fund, and remind current donors to pay their open pledges through direct mail, email, and texting solicitations, among other efforts.
  • Completes 10-20 alumni visits annually with emphasis of stewarding and increasing giving within the group of donors giving at the $500 - $2,500 range in the Philadelphia and New York Region. Identifies major gift donors and works closely with them in meeting their philanthropic goals in conjunction with the Assistant Dean.
  • Analyzes data to review giving trends and opportunities to determine cultivation and solicitation strategies. Works with Departmental Chairs and identifies leadership donors. Provides donor summary reports to the Chairs of Department.
  • Plans (Annual Giving Office B job profile) or manages (Annual Giving Officer C job profile) and executes a successful Weitzman community-wide annual fund campaign, including the recruitment of faculty and staff donors.
  • Directs the Weitzman School of Design reunion program which encompasses strategic goals with unique graduate reunion programming and giving.
  • Coordinates (Annual Giving Office B job profile) or Manages (Annual Giving Officer C job profile) the Dean's Council in relation to the program and members. Consults with the Dean and the Assistant Dean on building a pipeline from current Dean's Council members to future Advisors, and the expansion of diversity on the board.
  • Develops strategies to provide unique stewardship opportunities throughout the year.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use and train Weitzman staff on Central DAR's new Salesforce based databases including our new e-marketing software, Marketing Cloud. Uses new systems in Marketing Cloud for the recruitment of new and lapsed donors. Oversees the production of messages with the Development Coordinator.

Alumni Relations
  • Manages the Weitzman Alumni Association (PWAA), working with them to further the long-range goals of Weitzman. Manages all affinity groups related to the school (StuCo, Women in Architecture, Young Alumni).
  • Works closely with the Associate Director for Professional Development and Leadership on programming related to careers and networking among the alumni community, including our annual Design Career Fair, PWAA Professional Review, graduating student events, and more.
  • Manages all alumni events at professional conferences and other events as assigned. Travels within the region to motivate and sustain programming. Encourages ways to engage in philanthropy and annual fund initiatives among regional activities.
  • Acts as staff liaison to Central Alumni Relations attending quarterly meetings with the Central Alumni Relations group, as well as Arts and Culture planning meetings.
  • Executes Weitzman events during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming. Initiates an annual reunion program, including but not limited to recruiting reunion volunteers, coordinating events, developing and creating communications, and giving among reunion classes.
  • Manages/Coordinates all follow-up and next steps after events and programs and works closely with Senior Associate Director of Communications and Stewardship with messages and outcomes.
  • Manages efforts for the Weitzman School Sponsored lectures during the fall and spring semesters at the School and assist with annual stewardship reports related to the lecture funds.
  • Supports the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations with regards to special donor groups and fellowship funds.
  • Works closely with the Development Coordinator to coordinate efforts in database management and stewardship along with overseeing workflow and special projects.

Qualifications

BA/BS and 3-5 (Annual Giving Officer B job profile) or 5-7 (Annual Giving Officer C job profile) years of experience in development, alumni relations, communications and/or public relations or equivalent combination of education and experience required; excellent organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects under time demands; able to plan, organize and coordinate fundraising programs preferable in a University setting; able to manage volunteers. Ability to travel within the US and work events and weekends as needed. Travel and valid driver's license required.
