Vice President and Chief Business Officer

The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks a forward thinking and collaborative leader to serve as vice president and chief business officer. As a key member of the Institute’s Leadership Team, the Vice President and Chief Business Officer will report to the President and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the Institute.  The new Vice President and Chief Business Officer will join an institution with a long history of innovation and impact. As an institute on the leading edge of science, engineering, and mathematics education, Rose-Hulman seeks a new leader with skills in financial management, facilities operations, and administration to develop and execute a vision for these administrative teams to support the Institute’s strategic plan. 

The Vice President and Chief Business Officer will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial, facility, and administrative related activities of the Institute. This will include responsibility for accounting, finance, treasury, forecasting, financings, lender relationships, and facilities. Additional responsibilities will include interfacing with the Board of Trustees, providing appropriate visibility into the endowment performance, financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and the financial implications of various strategic planning initiatives and serving as administrative liaison to the Audit Committee, Business Administration Committee, and Investment Management Committee. The new Vice President and Chief Business Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating all Institute contractual and legal matters; directing all governmental and compliance management and reporting; and developing and administering the Institute’s risk management processes and insurance coverages.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required. A Master’s degree and CPA licensure are preferred. Ten years of significant relevant experience in some combination of the accounting, financial and operations management areas, preferably in a private college or university setting is expected.  The successful candidate will also have demonstrated ability to lead, including partnering across peer leadership groups and deploying resources to support individual units as well as enterprise wide.
