Duties:

SAS Computing is seeking an Information Technology Support Specialist to provide excellent technological support and creative IT solutions that will further the research and teaching missions of the school. Desktop support is one of the primary responsibilities of the position. It involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting faculty and staff computers in a mixed Mac/PC/Linux environment. They will actively monitor incoming tickets in the support queue, and respond both remotely and in person, as needed. The successful candidate will be comfortable configuring a variety of mobile devices, including iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. They will assist faculty with classroom technology. A strong commitment to information security is required; experience with encryption is desirable. A key responsibility of this position is working with faculty and staff to identify creative IT solutions that forward the research, teaching, and administration of the departments. The successful candidate will listen well to the needs of clients, and propose innovative and maintainable methods of accomplishing those goals. The successful candidate is capable of supporting clients with a wide variety of technical abilities and comfort levels from novice to expert. They are comfortable in a busy and highly collaborative environment, and provide clear and frequent communication to both colleagues and clients. As a member of the School of Arts & Sciences Computing group, the IT Support Specialist will assure that all activities are consistent with institutional standards and will participate in School-wide technology initiatives.

This position is hybrid eligible.

Qualifications:

BA/BS and 0-1 year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience are required. Experience supporting Mac OS and Windows is required, Linux experience is desirable. Familiarity with popular web browsers and mail applications, basic computer networking concepts, and anti-virus software required. Experience with ticketing systems, Active Directory, encryption, and endpoint management systems is very desirable. Excellent customer service and spoken/written communication skills required; flexible work schedule may be required occasionally.
