SCAD Atlanta seeks a part-time professor of animation to develop and extend students’ awareness of story, design, audience, and collaboration in production. In this role, you will apply your industry experience and expert technical proficiency in the classroom.

The Savannah College of Art and Design has been named among the world’s top animation schools and among the “Ivy League of Animation” by 3D World magazine. The ideal candidate will apply an understanding of commercial or independent filmmaking to teach a unique curriculum that explores 2D and 3D animation, and includes digital modeling, rigging, lighting, and look development.

The successful candidate will have a strong portfolio of work that reflects a high degree of animation knowledge including gesture drawing, 2D and 3D experience, and a strong understanding of the production pipeline. Proven leadership skills and the ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds are essential.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree or its equivalent in animation or a related field
  • Proficient in relevant software such as Maya, Toon Boom, Blender, and ZBrush
  • Reel, website, or flatbook of your own character performance work that displays the animation process and, if applicable, a reel, website, or flatbook that displays your former students’ work is preferred
  • University-level teaching experience preferred
