Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance

East Carolina University (ECU) seeks applications and nominations for the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance (VCAF) position.

 

ECU is a member of the 17 constituent institutions within the University of North Carolina system and comprises 12 colleges and schools, including the Brody School of Medicine, College of Education, College of Engineering and Technology, Graduate School, School of Dental Medicine, College of Business, College of Nursing, Honors College, Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, College of Allied Health Sciences, College of Health and Human Performance and the College of Fine Arts and Communication. Since its founding in 1907, ECU has grown to offer over 250 degrees and certificates (93 bachelor’s degrees, 76 master’s degrees, 15 research doctoral degrees, six professional doctoral degrees, two intermediate degrees; 80 departmental certificates).

The VCAF reports to the Chancellor and provides leadership, oversight and stewardship to all aspects of the University’s financial resources which includes total revenues of over $900 million. The VCAF serves as a strategic advisor to the Chancellor and executive staff on fiscal affairs, administrative and facility operations. This individual recommends financial and administrative objectives, policies, programs and practices that ensure the sound financial present and future of the University. The VCAF directs and coordinates activities related to current facility maintenance as well as new facility planning and construction. In addition to these duties, this individual serves as the treasurer of the ECU Foundation, Inc., the ECU Educational Foundation, Inc., ECU Real Estate Foundation, Inc., and Green Town Properties, Inc., and is a voting member of the board of the ECU Medical and Health Sciences Foundation, Inc. The VCAF serves as the Executive Treasurer of the ECU Alumni Association and as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Board. The VCAF will also serve on the board of a new nonprofit organization, currently called VECU Medical Group, which is a result of an integration of the medical clinical practices of ECU Physicians and Vidant Medical Group.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to provide dynamic leadership in further developing and strengthening the University's business, fiscal and management systems, and provide visionary leadership to campus financial operations. Candidates must hold an appropriate graduate degree with a terminal degree desirable. A record of more than 10 years of leadership experience, including increasing responsibility in a financial role, is required. Experience in an institution of higher education is preferred.
