Director of Engineering Programs

Hanover College, Indiana’s oldest private liberal arts college, invites nominations and applications for the newly created position of Director of Engineering Programs. Building on the basis of an already established curriculum, corporate partnership, and recruitment, the Director will have the opportunity to further define a distinctive program.

Hanover has formed an Engineering Advisory Board that includes leadership from a strong manufacturing base and helps shape the relationship of the community with the College. A potential hub for specialized expertise and research, Hanover seeks to further partner with local and regional industry for experiential learning, student intern opportunities, technology transfer, and entrepreneurial growth.  These initiatives will advance the College and positively impact the economic development of Jefferson County and the southeastern region of Indiana.   

Hanover is a selective college located on 400+ beautiful acres on the southeastern border of Indiana to Kentucky, overlooking the Ohio River.  The faculty work closely with the students in and out of the classroom and model lifelong inquiry through ongoing scholarship in their disciplines, oftentimes in collaboration with students.  With the development of the Engineering Programs, Hanover appeals to students who seek a strong engineering degree coupled with a broader education in a liberal arts setting. Degrees to be offered are a B.S. in Engineering in one of six specializations (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, and General Engineering) along with a flexible B.A. in Engineering Science. The new program Director will coordinate the strategic planning, programming, accreditation goals, resource development, and overall leadership for Engineering. The Director will provide oversight for faculty and staff in the Engineering Department, while also maintaining teaching responsibilities and research activity.

The College seeks an effective academic leader (rank open) with demonstrated skills in the classroom and in departmental/program leadership. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
