Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

Old Dominion University (ODU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

ODU is Virginia's entrepreneurial-minded public doctoral research university with approximately 24,000 students, rigorous academics, an energetic residential community, and robust initiatives that contribute $2.6 billion annually to Virginia's economy. The diverse student body includes approximately 54% students of color, nearly 800 international students from 90 countries, and 25% military-affiliated students. ODU has also once again been recognized among the region’s and nation’s top colleges. Students benefit from a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio and are supported by 844 dedicated and nationally recognized faculty members. ODU ranks as a top university for social mobility and was also highlighted for having, among doctoral institutions, top undergraduate business and engineering programs. With more than 150,000 alumni across all 50 states and 67 countries, ODU pride is global.

The new associate vice president will develop, lead, and execute the vision and strategy that will take the university to its next level of enrollment success, joining a leadership team that is forward-looking, energetic, collaborative, and committed to students and their success. As a part of the Division of Student Engagement & Enrollment Services, the associate vice president will work collegially and collaboratively across campus to achieve goals for enrollment and lead an experienced and dedicated total team of 113 in the areas of undergraduate, graduate, and international admissions; financial aid; the registrar; enrollment technology and data analysis; CRM and integrated systems; and customer relations.

ODU has a time-honored tradition of providing a diverse and welcoming community with the opportunity to learn from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. The university seeks to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. Of equal significance, the associate vice president will possess a deep and abiding commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including a proven record of advocacy for students who are traditionally marginalized and underrepresented in higher education.

The successful candidate will bring comprehensive knowledge of current theory and best practice in enrollment management including admissions, financial aid, student success, data, and technology. They will possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. The ability to understand the challenges and opportunities of a public, urban research institution; the ability to enroll students from varying backgrounds and experiences, including traditional, transfer, veteran, and adult learners; and exceptional administrative, financial, and managerial skills will be important.
