President

PRESIDENT

The College of Wooster announces the search for its 13th president and invites nominations for and applications from exceptional candidates to lead one of America’s most distinguished residential liberal arts colleges during a period of significant momentum.

The College of Wooster is known as America’s Premier College for Mentored Undergraduate Research and is a nationally ranked liberal arts college located in northeastern Ohio. Within 60 minutes of campus are the metropolitan areas of Cleveland (on the shores of Lake Erie), Akron and Canton, and Columbus is 80 miles to the southwest. Wooster is a connected and diverse community of learners with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students are mentored by a faculty nationally recognized for excellence in teaching, and Wooster graduates are creative and independent thinkers with exceptional abilities to ask important questions, research complex issues, solve problems, and communicate new knowledge and insight. Wooster delivers an experience that is both globally engaged and locally grounded, rich in opportunities for collaboration, civic engagement, professional exploration, and leadership. At Wooster, every student works one-on-one with a faculty mentor for one year to conceive, organize, and complete a significant piece of original research, scholarship, or creative expression. This Independent Study project, known to generations simply as I.S., is the centerpiece of Wooster’s commitment to mentored research and a badge of distinction for all graduates as they head into the world of work.

The next President of The College of Wooster will join an institution remarkable for its distinctive educational mission, the passion and dedication of its faculty and staff, and the diversity and international background of its students. The College has a vibrant campus, a deep commitment to building and supporting an equitable, diverse, and devoted community, strong board support, and a record of success in fundraising and enrollment. The innovative and proven leader who joins the Wooster community must embrace the liberal arts and experiential learning traditions of the College and have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing higher education in our country. They will have the opportunity to set a path forward for the College on a national and global stage.
