The Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor Positions in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of the use of animal models, humans, genetics, human immune profiling, and/or epigenetics to study mechanisms of asthma and/or allergic rhinitis causation, airway injury and aberrant lung repair due to environmental exposures. In addition, investigations into the modes of respiratory responsiveness and/or non-responsiveness to therapeutic agents and the use of biologics/advanced therapeutics to treat lung disease is of particular interest. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching graduate or medical students in the School of Medicine.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include establishing and overseeing a productive and vibrant transdisciplinary research lab, publishing high impact papers in top tier journals, successfully obtaining external funding support to sustain the lab and achieving national/ international recognition as a leader in the field.

Early career investigators are expected to have several years of postdoctoral and/or clinical research experience and the potential to generate their own grant support and a strong publication record.

The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Systems Pharmacology & Translational Therapeutics or a School of Medicine department that is consistent with the scientific expertise of the successful candidate. Opportunities for joint recruitment or a secondary academic appointment in the Department of Medicine (within the Divisions of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine or Translational Medicine and Human Genetics) or the Department of Pediatrics (based in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) exist.

The successful candidate will also become a member of the Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology and the Institute for Immunology.
