History Instructor

Texas Christian University invites applications for a full-time instructor position in the Department of History beginning August 2018. This is principally a teaching position, with a 4/4 load and an emphasis on survey courses (which are capped at 40 students). The department seeks candidates who can teach history survey courses in one or more of the following areas: Africa, Asia, Middle East, Global South, or World History. The successful candidate may offer upper division courses in their areas of expertise in any field except U.S., Europe, and Latin America. We encourage applicants whose courses could contribute to one or more of the college’s interdisciplinary programs, such as Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, Women and Gender Studies, African American and Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Middle East Studies, or Urban Studies. This is not a tenure-track position, but instructors are encouraged to pursue professional advancement to the Instructor II and Senior Instructor levels based on quality of teaching and service.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of application.
