Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Public Administration (with an emphasis in health care) or related field is preferred although ABD status will also be considered. An emphasis or interest in healthcare management would be especially preferred. Candidates must provide evidence of (1) a potential for teaching excellence in an environment that emphasizes applied and experiential learning, (2) research productivity in health care management and policy commensurate with experience and a capacity to develop and sustain a research stream that will result in peer-reviewed publications, (3) an ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively in a diverse campus community, and (4) an ability to educate and mentor a diverse student population. Experience in health care administration is preferred.

Responsibilities: Teaching load commensurate with a teaching university but course releases are available. Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, establishing a scholarly record, and providing service as needed to our department, school, university, and community. The successful candidate will be teaching primarily in the MS- HCA and MPA programs. They may also be asked to teach in the School's undergraduate programs. The primary location for teaching and research will be the main campus (Bakersfield, CA), although some teaching may take place at the Antelope Valley campus (Lancaster, CA). The successful candidate also would be expected to create, foster and enhance new and existing community health agency relationships.

Background Check: A background check (including a criminal record check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
