Assistant Professor, Social Psychology

The Department of Sociology at invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Social Psychology, specializing in quantitative or experimental social psychology. The appointment will begin July 1, 2018.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of publication and potential for teaching excellence. Experience in extramural funding is preferred. Competitive candidates for this position will be expected to have research interests that overlap with one or more of the department’s other areas of emphasis, which will contribute to promoting a diverse and multicultural curriculum. The candidate selected for this position will be encouraged to establish cooperative research activities with other campus departments and/or professional schools, research centers and colleges.

Applicants should possess a PhD in Sociology or must have completed the requirements for the PhD by the start of appointment July 1, 2018. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
