Assistant/Associate Professor - Analytics (2 Positions)

The Department of Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) in the Farmer School of Business invites applications for two tenure track positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2018 to support our growing programs in Business Analytics. Highly qualified, experienced candidates may be considered at the rank of Associate Professor (for one position).

The ISA department supports academic programs that blend the disciplines of Analytics, Statistics, Management Science, and Information Systems to help organizations manage, understand, and gain insights from data.  Our department consists of 19 permanent faculty and enjoys a strong culture of research collaboration across the Farmer School of Business, Miami University, and with industry.  Our broad areas of research expertise include applied analytics, information technology, machine learning, and statistical methodology. Our rigorous academic programs emphasize real data, experiential learning and a project-based curriculum.   Students majoring in ISA can choose to specialize in an Information Systems track or a Business Analytics track.  The department also offers an interdisciplinary co-major in Analytics, a minor in Information Systems, and a minor in Business Analytics.  In addition, the university-wide Center for Analytics and Data Science  offers opportunities for collaborative research, industry collaboration, and program development in the areas of analytics and data science. 

Duties

Assistant professors are responsible for maintaining an active research agenda that results in top tier publications and carrying a full teaching assignment in the ISA program.  In addition to maintaining a strong research program and excellence in teaching, faculty members are expected to engage in service to the institution and profession. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed a doctorate in Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Management Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or a closely related area by 12/31/2018.

Preferred Qualifications:

At the Assistant Professor level, consideration will be given to potential for an active research agenda that will result in top tier publications as well as innovative and effective teaching.   To be appointed to the rank of Associate Professor, consideration will be given to demonstrated high quality teaching and a successful publication of high quality scholarship/research.

Consideration also will be given to candidates with prior academic experience in a business school environment and/or work experience in Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Management Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related area; accepted/published research in highly regarded academic journals; previous success in teaching in the area of statistical learning and/or time series or previous success in teaching/research in the area of data engineering.
