Associate Dean for Health Equity - Dell Medical School at UT Austin

Dell Medical School is searching for a nationally renowned leader who has experience in improving health equity in clinical and community settings. The Associate Dean for Health Equity is an expert on the causes of health disparities and brings experience in influencing the operations and behaviors of an academic medical enterprise to ensure better, equitable outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to leverage expertise and make changes to health inequities on the ground with the full backing of the Medical School and the Health Enterprise.

The Associate Dean for Health Equity leads the effort to systematically embed an actionable focus on equity into our developing programs in clinical care, community health, research and education to create transformative impact. She/He has a demonstrated history of intentional and respectful work with community members and local communities facing health inequities. She/He also has a history of enabling multidisciplinary teams through influence and shared values to address health inequity issues.

Dell Med revolutionizes how people get and stay healthy. With a focus on health not just healthcare, the school is building a hub of academic medicine that demonstrates improvements through local impact and actively disseminates learning through partnerships and engagement. Given the unique community-funded model, the school has cross-sector support for building a model health city and region. Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, however, is also one of the most segregated cities with significant socioeconomic, racial and ethnic disparities in health access and outcomes. The Associate Dean for Health Equity will lead the work to embed expertise in addressing disparities and tools to bring an equity perspective into programming across the community, clinical, research and education missions of the Dell Medical enterprise.
