Assistant Director, Professional and Summer Programs
Graduate and Professional Studies at Sarah Lawrence College seeks an Assistant Director with a diverse skill-set and range of student life and program management experience to assist in the implementation and oversight of Professional and Summer Programs. The Assistant Director is expected to have a keen sense of necessary administrative elements for program management and provide exceptional service to students. The wide-range of duties encompasses multiple functional areas: recruitment and registration, marketing and promotion, student affairs and services, program assessment, and academic affairs.
The Assistant Director should have robust interpersonal skills, an orientation towards long-term planning, ability to work on multiple projects and varied tasks concurrently, a collaborative work ethic, a dedication to innovation, a positive outlook, a strong sense of humor, and a passion for providing engaging learning experiences. Experience working with non-traditional student populations and multilingualism are a plus. The Assistant Director is expected to have familiarity with the social and cultural dynamics of diverse student populations.
Responsibilities:
- Creates and implements recruitment initiatives to meet program enrollment goals (light local travel may be required)
- Builds and monitors enrollment and billing processes for all programs to ensure students submit all required materials
- Collaborates with Director on promotional content updates
- Generates content and oversees social media channels
- Serves as first-point of contact for all student and parent inquiries when graduate student employees are unavailable
- Supervises graduate student employees
- Assists Housing Coordinator and Director with training process for summer undergraduate student employees
- Assists the Housing Coordinator with housing services and residential life programs
- Serves in an on-call capacity one night a week while programs are in session (about 5-weeks in total). This requires staying in faculty housing on-campus overnight
- Works with Director on crisis management and response while programs are in session
- Assists the Director in implementing new program offerings and assessing current programs on an annual basis
- Completes other duties as assigned
