Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship

The mission of the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (CETLS) is to foster intellectual engagement across the curriculum through evidence-based programs and services that increase collaboration, communication, and community to enhance student learning. The Center will provide comprehensive faculty professional development designed to support the multiple roles of faculty (teaching, service and scholarship) across the span of their careers. The guiding principles for the Center include promoting and facilitating innovation in teaching; increasing collaboration and communication across schools, departments, and programs to support faculty and build community; and providing broad-based support for faculty scholarship.

 

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director will develop and launch programming to support best practices and effective strategies in teaching and learning, and to support faculty professional development, scholarship, and creative activities. Working closely with the associate vice presidents, school deans, department chairpersons and faculty leaders, the new Director will determine the priorities for the CETLS that lead to effective faculty development programming and will provide regular evaluation of Center services and programs. The new Director will oversee the daily operations of the CETLS and will be responsible for managing its budget, personnel, programs, services, facilities and communications.

 

Qualifications:  The new Director will be a dynamic leader and an accomplished educator with a demonstrated ability to lead faculty in change that results in the improved academic success of students and productivity of faculty. The Director must have experience leading complex teams/organizations as well as managing budgets and resource allocation. With expertise in faculty development, student learning outcomes assessment, and knowledge of leading methods and technologies to support faculty and students, the Director will catalyze support and enthusiasm for advancing the educational mission of the College. A PhD or doctorate from an accredited institution and experience commensurate with the ranking of Professor are required.
