ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR MARKETING AND OUTREACH

Seeking an energetic, student focused professional to join our team.  Responsible for the design, implementation, coordination, and the general supervision of the Recreation Department's marketing and branding efforts. Provides a strategic and integrated approach to effectively promote, market, execute and evaluate departmental programs and services. Coordinates department's marketing and promotional efforts targeting the UCSB and Santa Barbara community. Produces all departmental printed publications. Coordinates all temporary building signage, and the audio/video messaging systems. Maintains the department website and social media sites. Manages and provides long term strategic planning of annual marketing (~$200,000) expenditures. Works with the Sr. Assoc. Director to develop an overall development/ sponsorship strategy. Provides the artistic and graphic design support for those efforts.  

 

Requirements:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, students and affiliates as well as members from a diverse socioeconomic, ethnic and educational community. Strong public speaking skills. Knowledge of an integrated and/or strategic marketing planning process, effective data analysis, and market research experience essential to be effective. Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office suite and Adobe Creative Suite. Demonstrated ability to utilize design, project management and content management software effectively. Basic knowledge of design principles and photography /videography. Demonstrated working knowledge of various social media (i.e. Twitter, Snap Chat, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and web related software such as Drupal or similar. Experience managing social media accounts on behalf of an organization or business. Demonstrated ability to hire, train and evaluate student part time staff.  

 

Notes: Fingerprinting required.  Mandated reporting requirements for child abuse. Occasional weekend and evening hours.

 

Salary: $56,310 - $75,000/yr.
