The Medical Education Campus (MEC) is a technologically sophisticated, specialized campus dedicated to the education and preparation of nursing and allied health professionals with a strong commitment to workforce development and continuing education. Known as the first specialized community college campus in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Medical Education Campus meets the needs of college students interested in the health care profession and offers courses to high school students and current health care providers seeking to expand their knowledge. The Medical Education Campus serves more than 3,500 students annually in 10 health-related programs and features state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories, dental clinics and a clinical practice site for nursing and allied health students. NOVA invites applications for the position of Provost of its Medical Education Campus. This position reports to the President of the College and is a member of the NOVA Administrative Council. The Provost serves as the chief administrative officer of the campus and coordinates all campus planning, development, budget preparation, and policy matters. Additionally, the Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the campus and provides general supervision of the student services function at the campus. The Provost directly supervises campus staff including the Dean of Nursing and Clinical Services, the Dean of Allied Health, the Dean of Students, the Dean of Learning and Technology Resources and IT, and the Director of Campus Operations.

 

The new Provost will be a dedicated educator and a passionate advocate of the community college mission, with a demonstrated record of academic, executive, and administrative leadership as well as experience in building and effectively managing strong programs in nursing and allied health professions as well as student services focused upon student access and success. The Medical Education Campus seeks a capable leader who demonstrates a commitment to community engagement and building partnerships, excellence in teaching, and working in and fostering a diverse, multicultural, and international community. The successful candidate will be skilled in management, budgeting, and operational procedures as well as able to lead the effective use of information technology for administrative and instructional purposes. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and team player with a collaborative leadership style and will be an active participant in daily campus activities. An earned doctorate is required.
