Director, Advancement CLASS

 

Position Description: Develops and implements a comprehensive development and alumni relations program for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences in consultation with the Dean, and in cooperation with the Division of University Advancement. Leads a major gifts program to secure significant, multi-year contributions from individuals for the college’s endowment, capital needs, scholarship and faculty support. Builds, maintains and serves as primary prospect manager for a portfolio of prospects. Recruits, cultivates, motivates and staffs volunteer advisory boards comprised of alumni and other members of the community, including the Visiting Committee. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years progressively responsible fundraising or institutional advancement experience. Broad exposure to and demonstrated success in multiple facets of fundraising, including annual fund, major gifts, proposal writing and successful relationship building skills. Proven success in solicitation and gift closure for major and leadership gifts. Ability to think collaboratively, strategically, and creatively, recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities, and prioritize them to attain goals. Ability to effectively represent the University and the College and interface with business executives at the highest level. Proven ability to analyze and prepare data, develop and deliver presentations and proposals. Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to manage volunteers who are high net worth individuals in positions of influence. Demonstrated understanding of ethics related to development activities; ability to use discretion in interactions with donors and prospects. PC proficiency. Ability to travel off campus and maintain a flexible schedule. Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in the arts, humanities or a social science. Master’s degree. Two to five years experience in fundraising for the arts. In depth knowledge of higher education fundraising principles, methods and techniques.
